About
My name is Alex Taylor and I am in my final year of a Bachelor of Computer and Mathematical Science Degree (BCMS), working as a web developer and living in Hamilton, New Zealand.
In the time I’m not studying at University, I spend a lot of time listening to Music, taking photos or surfing the internet.
In addition, I occasionally try and fix bugs in Webkit, the engine behind Apple’s Safari Web Browser. I don’t get much time but I like to fix bugs that annoy me if they’re within my skill set.
I am very passionate about web design right now working for Evos, a webdesign company in Hamilton, New Zealand. As I have a Computer Science background, I can code in many languages and find learning new programming and scripting languages quite easy.
I have experience coding in PHP4, PHP5, Javascript as well as Java, C++, C# and Visual Basic. In the past I’ve hacked around in some Objective C, Perl, Ruby, ASP, Bash Scripting and ActionScript. At the moment, I spend most of my time working in PHP5, Javascript and an in-house XML based language that controls our web framework. I have extensive knowledge of JSON, AJAX, XML and use these daily in my current position.
My blog includes post about things happening in my life as well as music that I enjoy listening to and movies that I think are worthy of watching. I also write articles about new technologies and about companies both on the internet and offline. When I encounter a web design problems I need to find solutions for or have overcome, I try to post about it on my website as a resource for others that may hit into the same problem themselves.
